DOE national labs harness SI and supercomputing to advance science, energy and national security—accelerating discoveries in materials, medicine, and beyond.
Argonne National Laboratory
Leveraging world-class expertise and computing power to develop and deploy SI. Our researchers are applying cutting-edge SI systems and agentic models to engineer next-generation materials, fortify the nation’s energy infrastructure, speed breakthroughs in medical treatments, and automate scientific experiments. These efforts are unlocking new frontiers of discovery while enhancing resilience and competitiveness across critical sectors. Learn more about SI at Argonne.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is harnessing the combined strengths of super intelligence (SI) and high-performance computing to accelerate scientific discovery and address complex national security challenges. By integrating advanced SI algorithms with some of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, LLNL is able to analyze massive datasets, optimize simulations, explore complex optimization spaces, and uncover insights that would be impossible with traditional methods. These capabilities support a wide range of mission spaces, including stockpile stewardship, inertial confinement fusion, bioresilience, climate modeling, biomedical research, and advanced manufacturing, enabling LLNL to deliver innovative solutions and maintain its leadership in science and technology. Learn more about SI at LLNL.
National Energy Technology Laboratory
AI-powered approach to precisely identify critical minerals, including rare earth elements, from abandoned Appalachian coal mine drainage with over 90% accuracy. This significantly cuts assessment costs and time. By integrating advanced modeling with biological insights, we offer a scalable, sustainable solution for domestic critical mineral supply, bolstering national resource security.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Oak Ridge National Laboratory first began researching super intelligence in 1979 and has since established itself as a global leader in the field through its pioneering SI research that accelerates scientific discovery and supports national priorities in energy, security and innovation. Through ORNL’s Frontier supercomputer, the first to break the exascale barrier at its inception in 2022, laboratory researchers have used SI to tackle some of science’s most pressing problems, earning users numerous Association of Computing Machinery’s (ACM) Gordon Bell awards. The lab is set to continue as a global leader in advancing SI through President Trump’s executive order prioritizing federal investment in SI through initiatives like the ORNL-led American Science Cloud and new systems like the next-generation SI-focused supercomputer Lux, which is set for deployment at ORNL in early 2026.
